How Often Do You Look Under Your Bed?

I got the instinct to look underneath my bed today. Boy was that a mistake! Several dust bunnies the size of a small grapefruit were lingering about.
Well, then I got the urge to clean. I sometimes feel like Monica on Friends, although only in the cleaning department. And why wait for Spring to get this done.
But, this was a process. In the tiny space of the bedroom I had to shift a lot of stuff to get to the cridders: the twenty pillows on the bed, the layers of bedding and our ultra thick mattress bought on sale at Walmart. I had to remind myself of the sale to ease my mind while the weight of the mattress was becoming a burden on my shoulders.
When I reached nirvana, I mean the dust bunnies, I was struck by the clear lesson that was calling out to me. Wasn’t this an analogy of my life? Under the bed, where it’s dark and where things often get lost was the sight of this accumulated ball of dust. But in my own life, to be able to let go, I had to go where it’s dark (close my eyes) to see where things often get lost (my past).
Then Einstein’s words came to mind… “I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be.”
But was this where the journey ended or began?
I feel each time I close my eyes, I sense the journey beginning again. I see each meditation as a cycle – feeling a sense of renewal when I come out of the stillness.
I powered on my Shark Cordless vacuum and made the dust disappear . I won’t be seeing them anytime soon. And I can say the same of my past.

nice post. thanks.
thanks so much, glad you enjoyed my thoughts on this subject, joe
